Shop Sales Ja:
This week, Blog Notes travels to the Caribbean island of Jamaica to an e-commerce blogger called Teron Brown. This is his blogging journey with Shop Sales Ja.
When I purchased my domain on February 27, 2025, I had no idea how much I had to learn. What started as a simple idea—launching an online store that Jamaicans could truly relate to—quickly became a full-on crash course in digital entrepreneurship.
I founded Shop Sales Ja because I saw a gap. Despite the rise of e-commerce globally, Jamaican consumers were still underserved. There wasn’t a reliable, well-optimized platform that felt local and authentic. I wanted to change that, but the reality of growing an online business hit quickly.

Social Media and SEO: The Hustle Behind Shop Sales Ja

Shop Sales Ja:

At first, I leaned heavily on social media, but breaking through the noise on platforms like Instagram and TikTok proved harder than expected. I had to find my brand voice while staying consistent, relatable, and visually polished—no easy feat when you’re wearing every hat in the business.
SEO services became my next obsession. I dove deep into keyword research, learning to identify low-competition, purchase-intent terms. I optimized every product description, improved page speeds, and started building backlinks—slowly increasing my Domain Authority and climbing Google’s search rankings one step at a time.
From Medium to My Own Blog: Owning My Platform
Initially, I blogged on Medium and Blogger, thinking those platforms would help me reach more people. But I realized I was building traffic for someone else’s site, not mine. So I made the switch and embedded a blog directly into my Shop Sales Ja website.
Writing long-form, SEO-friendly blog posts tailored to Jamaicans—covering local shopping tips, brand spotlights, and online store guides—helped my site gain authority. It also gave me a voice beyond just being an online store; it made me part of the conversation.

The Journey Ahead for Shop Sales Ja

Building Shop Sales Ja hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. From technical SEO to content creation, every win has come from persistence and purpose. I hope sharing my story helps inspire other Caribbean bloggers and creators to own their platforms, stay consistent, and lean into the local stories that matter.
