Box Office, Fans, and Critics

The movie was well received by critics with CinemaScore giving it a B+ and viewers giving it an approval rating of up 87%.  Although the fans on Rotten Tomatoes gave a 91% upvote, the website had this to say

“It isn’t exactly a persuasive argument for the continuation of the franchise–but Men in Black III is better than its predecessor and manages to exceed expectations.”

Damian Boyce responded

“Hooray. After the disappointing Men In Black 2, the franchise returns with a fun exciting adventure. The movie tries to recapture the magic of the original as Will Smith teams up first with Tommy Lee Jones, and then with a brilliant Josh Brolin giving a wonderful Tommy Lee Jones impression as a younger version of “K”.

“The accent of this movie is more about action than comedy but that makes for a much more exciting adventure this time around. Although with the movie is set in the past as Agent “J” travels back in time to save the younger version of Agent “K” it does mean a lack of Tommy Lee Jones in the movie. But there is no doubt you feel his presence channeled through Josh Brolin. This movie is energetic and is great fun. This is Men In Black back to its exciting best.”

Men in Black 3 is a family fun action comedy, with some of our favorite actors. This is the last in the trilogy and after seeing it span three decades, the franchise has done an excellent job in this reel.  It still snatches out some great laughs and goofy actions, if not it would not be MIB.
