Anyone over 18 years old can enter the writing contests on April Pad. You are not required to be an expert writer. As a matter of fact, we encourage newbies to give it a try. If you have a topic that you would like to write about, you can follow our style guide. Even if you do not win, your story will get published on our website, and will share your bio!
Let’s get to the writing contest and how you may qualify to enter each month. Starting at the beginning, you will need to become a member, choose your topic, and write. It is that simple.
Step 1: Become a Member
You can get the ball rolling by registering your writing contest account. Just enter your information, confirm your email and you are a registered member. You can always decide if you wish to be a Premium or a free member.
Step 2: Choose Your Writing Contest Topic
Each month the topic will focus on a different country, for example, India. This means that all articles must tell us something new about India that is not yet on the website. Your article must tell us who. what or how. You can familiarize yourself with articles already published on April Pad.
Who, What, and How: The website only has five categories and they will help you to narrow down what you can write about. Whatever you choose must delve into who did what, or what is it about, or how is it done. Good examples are the following articles:
Thus, your article may have an eye-catching topic such as What is the Indian UPI? However, you must choose your topic well so that it fits nicely into any of the following categories.
- Sports
- Lifestyle
- Business
- Gaming
- Fashion
- Health
- Science
Notably, your UPI topic needs some adjustments to fit into one of the categories. Should you tweak it to read:Â What Is UPI Security, you could fit it beneath the Lifestyle category.
Another option is to focus on the Gaming category. You could talk about how online casinos are turning to UPI and your title is a bit different. Maybe: How Top Indian Casinos Are Using UPI.
Step 3: Write Your Article
You are now ready to write your article. Your content should be very concise and informative. These are two of the most important assets of your work. Say it in five words instead of twenty. Short and to the point. Here are the parameters of each contest piece.
- Article Length: Must be at least 350 words and a maximum of 650 words. Articles must have the following lengths 350, 550, or 650. Please do not submit word counts in between.
- Subheading: Must have at least 1 subheading for every 200 words. So at least one subheading on 350, two on 500, and three on 650.
- Pictures: Unless you are a good photographer, use images from Flickr or Pexels. If you use your own shot, be sure to send a second photo with yourself in the background.
- Source: All facts, stats, or information must have supporting sources. This means that the website that inspired your topic should be noted.
- Spelling and Grammar: While we welcome writers of all levels, we do ask that you speak English – no matter which one (US, UK, CAN, AUS, SA, etc.). Please spell check before submitting.
